Toadstools and Fairy Homes

With two little girls in the house who have very big imaginations, it’s easy for your mind to wander to fanciful places. Wouldn’t it be fun if fairies really were real?!?

Lovely Ladies

20130530-212803.jpg

We had a fantastic time out with our friends on Memorial Day. We relaxed with an early dinner at Maggiano’s. we just ate and talked and laughed and ate. What a blessing their friendship is from the Lord!

I’ve lost a year.

I think one year has gone missing.  The calendar simply cannot be correct!

We just finished up the school year for 2012/13.  It seems like just a month ago we were scrambling to get our selves together after returning from our trip to California.  Our trip overlapped the first few days of school so I felt like we were starting out behind.  I’ve been catching up ever since.

Here we are on the cusp of summer and I see no slowing down in my future.  I love watching Kayla grow and learn right before my eyes. What an unbelievable ministry God has given to me in the form of being a mom.

Motherhood is a Choice

A friend of mine gave this to me and the other moms at MOPS two years ago.  I have it hanging on my fridge.  Every once in a while, I stop and re-read the words.  I think motherhood encompasses so much more, but these words give me hope that I am on the right track, that I have not failed today, that it’s ok to be unsure of yourself, and that forgiveness is a must.

Thank you Maria for this reminder.  Want to read more from Maria?  You can find her over at Middle Places.

A Spring in my Step

While out and about in the neighborhood, we snapped a few photos of the new blooms.

My clematis is so close to blooming.

Our yellow corn lilies will be here before you know it.

Our neighbor’s tree was so lusciously pink.

Climbing Emotional Mountains

I am guest blogging over at Middle Places today.  I am so excited to share this thought with you.

———————————————

I’ve been having a hard time this week.

First, because it’s just been a hard week that has followed a hard two months.  We are coming off of the recovery time of Bekah’s surgery, abscess, and C-diff.  Then we had a week back to school and now she’s been home again this whole week with a fever and drippy nose.

And second, because I have been climbing some emotional mountains.  Emotional mountains pop up in front of me in an instant.  Rarely do I see them coming.  Sometimes they take hours to climb and sometimes the climb takes days.

The other day I overheard Kayla say to Rebekah “I can’t wait for you to have babies because then I can be an aunt.  I’m going to be the best aunt ever.”  This both thrilled me and it killed me…   Catch the rest of this blog at Middle Places/Climbing Emotional Mountains.

On the FRINGE

Kayla wanted a new option for a shirt.  We had seen older girls with fringe shirts at camp and other places but had never tried it for ourselves.

We decided to give it a go and jumped right in.  It’s so easy, I think you’ll enjoy making one too.

First, cut the hem off of the t-shirt arms. (Nope, I didn’t even measure.)

Second, cut the neckline out of the t-shirt.  This makes the neck big and it hangs a little bit.  Kayla thinks it is so cool to wear this with a tank top and let the neck hang off her shoulder a little.

Third, cut strips all along the bottom of the shirt and along the edges of the sleeve. (Again, no measuring.  I did use a notebook to keep my cut depth even, but didn’t measure the strips across.  They were maybe 1/4 inch.)

Fourth, decorate your fringe with beads.  Kayla placed beads on every fifth piece of fringe, or so.  Use your artistic eye.  Whatever looks good to you will look great!

Fifth, tie a knot at the end of the fringe with the beads.  This keeps the beads from slipping off.

An easy project that can be completed in no time.  Kayla was so proud to do all the bead work herself too!

I’d love to see some pictures of your projects too!

In Over Your Head…

A friend shared this verse at our MOPS Tea and Testimony day.

So many things can come up against us in waves. But God’s power is enough to carry you.
